List of CT Legal* Handgun Suppressor Hosts

*Not all dealers interpret the laws in the same way. Consult with your dealer and attorney for final guidance as to what is legal under CT statute.

CT statute Sect. 29-27 defines a pistol as “any firearm having a barrel less than twelve inches in length.” Regardless of the federal classification at time of manufacture any firearm in CT with a barrel under 12 inches is subject to the additional restrictions imposed by the assault weapon ban.

The specific section of the assault weapon ban regarding pistols:

Section Section 53-202a (1)(E)

(iv) A semiautomatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least one of the following:
      (I)    An ability to accept a detachable ammunition magazine that attaches at some
             location outside of the pistol grip;
      (II)   A threaded barrel capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward pistol grip or
             silencer;
      (III)  A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that
             permits the shooter to fire the firearm without being burned, except a slide that
             encloses the barrel; or
      (IV)  A second hand grip;

Firearms that are not semiautomatic (single shot, break action, bolt action, or revolvers are easy to identify as not being banned by this statute. Firearms with threaded features on or around the barrel are in more of a grey area and this is where you will find some dealers willing to transfer a particular firearm, and others who are not. Talk to your dealers, establish a reputation and find one willing to work with you.

Thanks! This is going to be a good resource to have.

If anyone more knowledgeable than me could confirm the list thus far, that would be great!

There’s technically a way to make all Glocks be a suppressor host by using pinned CAM-LOK which is effectively capturing the barrel in the slide permanently.

Yes, there are a number of pistols (if not most) that can have a non-threaded quick attach adapter, such as a camlock, permanently attached (pinned and welded) to the barrel. In most cases this makes the firearm difficult or impossible to fully disassemble for cleaning and service. The intent of this list was to provide CT citizens with options for suppressor hosts that do not require such modification.

No worries, still a great resource!
