I have pre 1994 prebans and other lowers. I’m assuming we can configure our other lowers as assaulty as we want when we register them so what’s the point in having pre bans anymore? I’m thinking about selling them to MA but hesitant on the one stipulation if SLFU says we can’t put stocks on our other lowers.
Historically speaking SFLU never gave any stipulations regarding the configuration that the AW needs to be in the past, nor is it mentioned anywhere in the current AW ban language, so I think the chances of that happening are slim.
I have a Colt SP1 from 1967 which I could sell, but I personally subscribe to the “Only Buy, Never Sell” way of collecting. Plus I’ve always wanted to build it into a period accurate rifle regardless and I probably wouldn’t get much more for it than what I paid for it.
If you could still get a really good price from someone in MA where pre-ban’s are still allowed (for now) - sell it if you have plenty of AR platforms already that you purchased before our new law. otherwise - keep it and have another AR to configure any way you like (within CT and Fed laws)
I understand the Colt lower being significant with a retro build. I would keep that if I were you.
I have some pre ban AR pistols that aren’t really significant to build into anything besides their original configuration. One is exactly like a gun in a metal gear solid game which is cool. However, if my $200ish lower can be configured exactly how this $2000 preban can be configured what’s the point?
I’m all for never selling but I just don’t see the point in keeping prebans anymore when I have an LMT lower that’s better than an old preban lower.
Yeah if truly any new AW is the same as a preban at this point, prebans are moot, since anything registered is effectively a preban .
Since all of my AR platforms are “preban” I’ll just keep them. Only Buy Never Sell works for me.
Only the OP can decide what to do with their ARs. Do what you feel is right Frosty.
The exorbitant amount of money they wanted for them in Connecticut is now gone. This is the only good thing bout this illegal law. No more of these “brothers n sisters” of the firearm community (who we were to stand side by side with) looking to stick it to us.
I’m also in the buy and not sell camp. Also, since I can’t replace my preban I’m not selling.
