I just remembered that there is a free Public Range out in Glastonbury, has anyone used it recently? I know its seasonal, just wanted to see how it is, is it fudd-city?
Seeing as you’ve had no replies in 2 weeks, I’ll give you my experience from 9 years ago. 10 lanes, generally filled with 20 shooters and 3 RSO’s. When I used to go, 2 rso’s were good, third was a dick. 100 yard range, all sand, 2 targets per lane, set holders up any distance. Generally everyone on pistol; I’d shoot rifle initially, then switch during the break. One or two scheduled ceasefires per session to change targets or whatever. Saw some of the most stupid stuff imaginable there,and understood why one rso was a dick. Every safety infraction ended up with a ceasefire and a 10 minute instruction session. I enjoyed it while I went, but am happy my shooting environment has changed.
Edit to add that reservations were pretty much required. DEEP site had the registration/reservation info iirc. Lanes filled up quick. RSO’ s recommended being 15 minutes early which allowed target setup and safety talk to not intrude too much on shooting time. Cat herding at times, 20 people, most new, some clueless. Walk ins accepted if reservation didn’t show.
