What’s known as a “short” legislative session starts today. This legislative session runs 13 weeks. The session rules indicate: “In the even year session the general assembly shall consider no business other than budgetary, revenue and financial matters, bills and resolutions raised by committees of the general assembly and those matters certified in writing by the speaker of the house of representatives and president pro tempore of the senate to be of an emergency nature.”

We have the first firearms related bill already posted by Sen. Sampson, 16th Dist. Its one proposed almost every year in recent years. A tax credit on purchasing a gun safe. And every year Democrat legislators who run the committee(s) reject it. No doubt additional proposed firearm related bills will roll in over the coming days as they always do at the start of each legislative session.
