# Pistol [Permit Tracker](https://map.ctguns.org) App

 ![Project Homepage](https://ctguns-uploads.nyc3.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com/original/1X/4f676538052a067f38c5b876782925f1427486c3.png)

The Pistol [Permit Tracker](https://map.ctguns.org) exists so any CT resident can quickly check how long the 30-day temporary
pistol permit process is actually taking in their town.

The data is entirely crowdsourced, so treat every number on the site as **illustrative, not authorit
ative** — it reflects what residents have reported, nothing more.

## How to contribute

Submitting is anonymous and takes under a minute — no Reddit account, no karma requirement, no keycode, no waiting on a bot or a moderator.

 ![Contribution form](https://ctguns-uploads.nyc3.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com/original/1X/0bcc95fd5db82483e247a667a17ec9e3ff96fca9.png)

1. Go to [map.ctguns.org](https://map.ctguns.org).
2. Click **Log your wait time** (on the home page) or **Log your wait** (on the map page).
3. **Step 1 — What and when:**
  - Pick what you’re reporting: Pistol Permit (issued by your town), or one of the state-processed types (Eligibility Certificate to Purchase Pistols/Revolvers, Eligibility to Purchase Long Guns, Eligibility to Purchase Ammunition, Non-Resident Permit).
  - If it’s a Pistol Permit, select your town.
  - Enter the date you **submitted** the application and the date you had the permit **in hand** — the site calculates the wait automatically.

4. **Step 2 — Verify and submit:**
  - Double-check the summary (type, town, dates, calculated wait).
  - Complete the captcha.
  - Hit **Submit anonymously**.

That’s it. Your entry is added immediately — no review queue, no approval step.

## What data is collected

Just three things: the permit type, the town, and the two dates. **No account, no email, no IP address is retained** — nothing that points back to you.

## A note on duplicates

If you’ve already logged an entry for the same permit type and town recently from the same device, you’ll see a note asking you to confirm it’s a genuinely separate application before submitting again
— this just keeps accidental double-submissions out of the data, it isn’t a hard block.
